Tonträger als Propagandamaterial. Einblicke in die Geschichte der DDR anhand von Schallplattendokumenten

Natürlich gibt es Unmengen der erwarteten ewig-gleichen Lieder von Solidarität, Klassenkampf und Sowjetfreundaschaft. Interessant wird es aber bei Schallplatten, die sich direkter der Volksbildung widmen, z.B. wenn das Ministerium für Staatssicherheit das Leben von Felix Dzerzinski als Vorbild nahelegt (dieser war Gründer der Tscheka, des internen Sowjetgeheim- und Säuberungsdienstes).

Und da Vinyl eher teuer war, bediente man sich vieler anderer Materialien, etwa als Flexi-Beilage zur Jugenzeitschrift Frösi (Fröhlich sein und singen) oder gleich als Flexi-Buch.

Diese Dokumente bieten unverzichtbare Einblicke in das Selbstverständnis und transportieren uns direkt in eine von hier aus zunehmend surreal erscheinende Gesellschaft.

Sounding Propaganda. Views on DDR history through record objects

Of course you find tons of the usual and expected songs about solidarity, class struggle, and soviet friendship. The more interesting (and rarer) records though feature all kinds of national education. For instance if the Ministery of State Security (the infamous Stasi) issued a record dedicated to the life of Felix Dzerziski, ill-reputed founder of the soviet internal secret sevice, the Tscheka, and praising him as a role model for the DDR youth.

Vinyl being rather expensive, other materials were extensivly used, such as the flexi disc coming with Frösi (german abbreviation meaning be happy and sing) or a bunch of them bound into a book.

These documents create indispensable insights into a society looking more and more surreal in vinyl retrospect.
